Ha ha ha.

Okay, so we do this thing at work where we leave little messages for each other on the member accounts screen. Let me explain, each time a member comes into the club we have to log their attendance and when we do a little screen with their name and details comes up. There is also a spot for the staff to put messages usually ‘ask this member for his phone number’ or ‘this member owes us money’ etc. Sometimes however if someone gets really bored they’ll leave funny little messages for the other receptionists to read. Such as ‘this guy likes to stare at your chest when you talk’ or ‘beware! Hates showers’. This poses a problem when you’ve got the member standing right in front of you and you’re reading the screen. If the message is particularly funny you may find yourself laughing out loud. This just happened to me. A guy came in today and as I was logging him in and a message came up: ‘ferret’. I laughed not out loud just a sort of snort. If you’ve seen this guy you’d understand. It’s not even that the message is that funny but as I’m sitting here feeling relatively tired and bored, this cracked me up. I covered my tracks well enough and muttered something about checking if he has paid for towels. I still thing he twigged though because he scrunched up his nose and gave me this look. Which of course made him look even more like a ferret. I’m such a bitch.

What I’m Listening To: I still have no idea

The Long Weekend

I am so tired. I don’t what made me agree to work the whole weekend, starting Friday. I was up early on Friday anyway to take my sister to the airport. It was very depressing since four of us (my sis, my bro, my dad and me) entered and only I came out, on my lonesome, the only one not going on holiday because I have to get my degree, blah. It was horrible. Then I got lost and couldn’t find the train station. There’s me wandering around Heathrow airport on my own clutching my cup of coffee and peering blearily at the directions. After that little adventure, I had to go to work. It’s not like my job is particularly tiring, it isn’t, but I spend a lot of time sitting on my ass behind a desk with nothing to do, usually I’d play Solitaire on the computer but the Manager took it off because he was worried that it would prevent the receptionists from working. Which is ridiculous because ‘working’ usually entails staring at the wall in front of you and twiddling your thumbs hour after hour. Plus due to the fact that I’m far too nice I’m covering other peoples shifts, therefore I was at work at closing Friday night and opening Saturday morning. This prompted one of the members (I work at a Health Club) to ask me if I ever left. No, no I don’t, I just roll out a sleeping bag under my desk. That’s what it feels like anyway. So I’m at work now, breaking the no internet rule, because seriously what else am I supposed to do for nine hours on a Sunday when only 3 people actually come in per hour. That’s about 7 minutes of work… per hour.
I did have an espresso this morning. Coffee makes me weird, my body is jumping around all over the place but my mind is going…ever…so…slowly. I should stop drinking it. Although I have written some essays pretty damn fast when on a coffee buzz.
Oh man, I’ve only been at work for an hour? What the hell? It feels like I’ve been here forever. Grrr. I want to go back to bed.

Love The Winter Olympics

I feel bad for only really watching the ice dancing when the Winter Olympics comes around, but I'm sure many people watch curling, not me though if I wanted to watch people sweep I'd get out a broom. I do watch the Hockey though, theres some spectacular fights in the hockey, very exciting. I'm such a typical consumer, I love drama. The ice dancing is just so pretty, all sparkly costumes and twirling. I love me some twirling. Just watched the British competitiors free dance, very good, scottish themed, plus they wore sparkly tartan you can't go wrong when you add sparkles and glitter. The Italian routine was also very nice. Looking forward to see who wins the final gold.

Shoes, shoes, shoes.

Firstly I must apologise for my last post it was far more vitriolic than I thought, hey it was that time of the month (heh heh). Plus it made my mum say I sound depressed. Well on a more upbeat note, I went shopping yesterday and girls you know what that means. Shoes, shoes, shoes. Nothing like a little reckless spending to make the world smell like roses. I love TKMaxx, best shop ever, since my funding is on the bargain shopper side, its nice to get good quality stuff that a student can afford (not that I ever let that stop me). I think now that I've treated myself. I will let that high you get off buying new stuff carry over and try and get my uni work going again. So wish me luck its time to knuckle down. (I will resurface in 2-3 days).

You Can Buy Me Flowers

Do you want to know what I got for Valentines day...my period. That's right I'm going to be blunt, I don't give a shit, no time of the month crap for me. I don't care about Valentines day. Stupid Hallmark holiday. Although it would have been nice to get something from someone to show that someone other than a member of my family cares. Still doesn't bother me no, no, no. I went to work today and the gym was practically dead, Tuesday's are usually busy so the staff were attributing the lack of people to Valentines day before speeding off early so they could catch their own trains to coupledom. This stupid Hallmark holiday is haunting me. The final straw was when I was walking up to the newagents (past two restaurants and a cinema) to grab a magazine. Couple after fucking couple. After the 275th couple sauntered by holding hands and making googly eyes at each other I wanted to kick in a window. I must have looked like the spinster of death walking down the road scowling, dressed in black with no make up on and my hair pulled back in a messy ponytail. I swear I saw several women grasp their boyfriends tighter as they caught sight of me 'the alternative'. So no, I don't care about Valentines day, not one single bit.

Dance My Cares Away

I've just discovered how good dancing is as a stress reliever. My dissertation is causing me much eyebrow furrowing and eye bag having, so today I put on some music and boogied for an hour. It was fantastic. I'm in a much better mood than I was when I got up this morning. After sitting through a lecture today that was very confusing and boring a lot due to the fact that I hadn't read the book the lecture was on, plus not knowing what to do about said dissertation, I came home in a foul mood. Plus my computer was giving me hell and basically heightening my frustration. I put the music on to relax me, but then found myself cranking up the volume and gyrating around. Best workout ever. I'm now tired but cheery. I recommend dancing to anybody going through work related (or computer related) stress. I'm going to lie down now.

My Kind Of Marathon

My Freaks & Geeks and Undeclared DVD's came in the post yesterday so I spent the whole day doing an Undeclared marathon. I watched every episode, all of the extras and even a few commentaries. I had only bought Undeclared because Amazon was doing some sort of deal. I had only seen two episodes previously, they aired at some ungodly hour of the morning on ITV and I would lie in bed and watch them on one of my Vodka and Red Bull comedowns. I never realised how funny the show actually is. I was laughing so hard at the last few episodes I nearly broke something. I fell off my chair at least twice (specifically during the episode 'Eric Visits Again'). If you've never seen it I would almost definitely recommend it to you. It was hilarious (as I am in my last year of University) I found myself pointing things out like 'Oh, I've done that' or 'She reminds me of so and so'. Its refreshing to see such realistic accounts of your first year of higher learning, mostly boredom and booze. Plus the characters are hilarious, loved them all. I went investigating afterwards and it turns out that like my favourite show Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared was horribly cancelled too. Americans. When you actually produce good TV you scrap it. Very confusing for Brits like me who discover these shows only to realise that the episodes are limited. Shame really. I guess I can add Undeclared to my cancelled before its time list. So now I think I might go outside, remind myself what natural light looks like. Maybe take a shower. Sounds like a plan.
