Creative Procrastination
So creative procrastination is what I like to call the days I spend not doing what I'm supposed to do, but doing something else creative instead, I know, what it says on the tin. Today I have about a million things I need to write, bunches of schemes and competitions to enter and a lot of furthering my career to do. I did none of that. Instead I made cupcakes. I don't actually like cake all that much and very few people in my household do either. We're actually quite unusual in that we're a non cake liking family. You'd think that would make us all healthy, it doesn't, because we're a bacon loving family instead.
Here are the fruits of my labour.
I decided to make red velvet cupcakes. I've never made them before, but I had one at a friends party once and it was delish.
I caught a cupcake baking bug a couple of years ago when I first starting dating my boyfriend. He's gluten free and is always complaining that nowhere does nice gluten free desserts, cause he loves cakes and shit, an oddity in my house as I said. So for valentines day during our first year of seeing each other I came upon a brilliant idea, I was poor and wanted to do something nice but cheap so I decided to learn how to make gluten free cupcakes. From then on I was hooked. I love the baking, and coming up with new recipes and substituting things and I love decorating cupcakes. It's a good thing I don't like eating them as much or I'd be pretty huge by now.
My only problem is I think I might be fattening him up. Someone has to eat them.
Today my cupcake baking has become the focus of my creative procrastination. It's not the only thing I do by a long shot. Maybe I'll share some of the other ways I manage to not get shit done.
